Yesterday Tuesday I went JB with Grace, YL, Gabby, XL and Ms E. Not exactly a small group but thankfully we were just occupied at City Square the entire day shopping, eating and shopping.
I was at CWP very early, but only to end up waiting for the Woodlands group as the girls group met at Kranji instead, insisting it was faster. I don't really think there is a big difference in travel times between the two stations and the two bus services but going over there separately was a good idea. It simply means less waiting. Ends up we were across the causeway in a breezy 25mins.
Lunch was at this restaurant named Hong Kong Kim Garie. I have no idea who Kim or Garie is, but the place looked lavishly decorated and was healthily filled. We spent some time trying to order from the huge menu, picking the set lunches rather. You can choose from a variety of cuisine styles: HK, Western, seafood, baked cheese and Asian. The specialty is herbal soup chicken noodle which tastes like KFC+ginseng to me (ie, fantastic) and you can pack it home in instant noodle packets. I picked unagi+abalone baked rice, which looked good on paper but was disappointing in the mouth. It was pretty cheap though, after converting to Singapore dollars, my meal, including dessert, drink and soup, was exactly $10 only. I shan't describe what the rest eat but let's just say even the very hungry people can't finish the food, so either it's the quality or the quantity that's putting them off. You decide with your own mouth, ok?
Next up was shopping. To summarise the sequence, the bulk of the shopping was done inside the Innercity section, looking at clothes and toys. Had a terrific time looking at our models and their ill fitting clothes. Eventually the girls didn't buy any clothes (miracle!) but Gabby and I spent more time looking for berms (she was looking on her brother's behalf). I tried two berms selected by YL at one shop but they weren't really fantastic since the rest didn't agree on it fully. Thereafter they were out of the Innercity zone while we are stuck in another shop. I tried one as chosen by Gabby and loved it as seen in the mirrors (but it was 30" and really short). She was okay with it and decided on it. Thinking to get a discount but the shopowner didn't budge so she asked if I wanted one too, to get more bargaining power. I picked another Paul Smith one and it looked pretty cool too. I can't post a nice photo of it as my camera sucks. After that they went to buy shoes and clothes, with Grace leading the pack. She insisted on a certain design which didn't look well on her feet, so I guess our tastes vary.
We went on to have dinner, but as we were still quite full, the dinner was going to be dessert. Secret Recipe was the recommended venue and in total 7 slices of cakes were ordered, in addition to 6 drinks. The Queen of Cakes "I can eat 2 cakes" Ms Chan ended up unable to finish even one cake. So that says alot. I think she should be Ms Supermarket as she swept alot of stuff from the supermarket.
We went back around 9pm and then we went our own ways. The return bus took some waiting time and plenty of rushing yet in all everything went well in the end.
