Ciao
These few days were a whirlwind period man. Generally things are on the better side of the grass, and today, the mid-term starts. Lined up first is Chinese New Year! I don't really fancy having my no. of holidays reduced by the festive season smacked into the term break, but it also means no make-ups, and that should be in fact a good news. It also means we can enjoy the first few days of the mid-terms thoroughly! Mahjong, lou hei, and fireworks watching should be lined up in the meanwhile...
Let's recall the several events over the past few days, in a peek into my colourful life~
Last Night
Unexpectedly I was asked by Pika whether I wanted to learn pineapple tart making from his mother and well, why not? His mother's pineapple tarts are simply fantastic! It was pretty hard work though eventually the delicious tarts meant all the work was worth it. They thought I was tired because I didn't look anywhere light-hearted but it was more because I was concentrating on making the tarts and that my cantonese proficiency is still sucky. Lol. It would take years for me to get the grip of it, I guess.
After the pineapple making, I had an appointment with the 7Seas brothers at Khatib for supper around 10pm. Unexpectedly, the brothers had even contacted the girls but only Lixia was available and she joined us. Lol. Ah Kai brought Rebecca (his girlfriend) along again but only a little bit of the conversation was directed towards her, wonder if she felt boring to be listening to us... On hindsight, our conversation was wide-ranging, from marriage and wedding dinners to computers and food. Hope it was interesting. The zi char stall at Khatib was very pushy and eventually we had something from their stall, which I felt was so so. Nonetheless the idea was to have a short gathering and we spent about 2hrs chatting until 12odd into midnight.
Yesterday
The day began with me rushing to pack stuff for the X-Country as I intended to scoot away from the event once I finished my run. I was eventually late for the briefing and when I had reached, the run just began. I quickly put my bag at the bag deposit zone and Jayne, my ex-council mate, helped me to grab my tag no. Remember this no: 332! Lol. Anyway she mentioned that my ex council mates, Daniel and Adrian had begun running and they were wearing the Standchart marathon singlet (a nice blue colour). I begun chasing through the pack, and I think the dragonboat training paid off - I could maintain a momentum I never felt I could had done before. On the second half of the run, I ran past Adrian and subsequently was the first of the trio to return. My timing was roughly 21 - 23 mins for 4.8km. Not too bad for someone who isn't a fitness buff. I guess I will improve throughout the year if I train more with the DBoaters. Was surprised to see Johnathan (a friend of friend, who was our mahjong khaki) and he seemed pretty well-doing too. I told him my MSN contact, hope can add a khaki again!
Then in the afternoon we had the debate in class. Unfortunately, as of now, Prof wrote an email regarding the results and it says that we are LAST among the 8 groups! I am not sure why are we last, but I supposed we will get to the bottom of it. I felt our speakers spoke pretty well and our points were much more original than the rest. I guess we have been a victim of mis-impression, one of the greatest enemy in life. It is a terrible problem that affects everyone, especially those who do not take a step back and into others' shoes. It must have been that the other groups had been immersed in their points and thought our points were inferior to theirs. I guess the Prof will let us know where we had gone wrong... hopefully. After all, it is the learning process that counts.
The Day Before
The memorable thing that day was having ice cream at Swensens. Earthquake! Lol. We must try it again soon. Otherwise, the whole morning was peppered with travelling as my mother forgot the keys to my auntie's place and I had to pass it to her and the afternoon were meeting and a class.
V Day
Tried baking at home but it was not successful. Otherwise, it was just another of those interesting days where V Day had a CNY mood to it, aunties fighting out in the supermarket, youngsters carrying flowers and chocs, hand-in-hand with their partners and what-have-yous. Oh! I spent the night eating dinner at Pika's place because his mother made a special dish and I wanted to learn that also~ Haha. After dinner, we were playing with the Dous, and sure it was another LOL day because the dous are soooooo cute.
To end the post, while I wish all "A Healthy, Wealthy, Happy Chinese New Year", here are some words to some of you:
KeanBon: Happy Bonday to you!
Charles: Happy CharlesDay to you!
Dan: With 99.5% chance you won't be watching this, but I also will want to wish you all the best, happy birthday and hope we can re-link up again to continue our friendship into our supposedly 11th year.
