Woo.. it's the weekend! Several things to report - people have been asking me about my new job, and perhaps i should also report on the Champions League final for my favourite English team. Other stuff will also be thrown in towards the end of the post...yes, please bring along your drinks and chips for it's gonna be a long post again (since when I did write short posts anyway...lol!)
I announced a fortnight ago to my friends that I will be working as a travel consultant in a golf+travel agency, but still, I get the same old questions from them regarding the job, regarding the location, pay, etc. Oh well, next time I should ask all of you to play golf then you will know what I do, but here's a brief glance at the 3 half-days I spent at my new workplace.
First day was pretty plain as we were asked to read golf magazines...I didn't know we had 13 golf courses in Singapore! Other than that, learnt that people like to play golf because
1. Physical and mental challenge (under the sun for 4 hours, walking/driving up and down slopes and hills, thinking where to hit hard, where to hit soft...)
2. Calming scenery, the beautiful landscape helps to get their minds off the ugly offices and the stressful meeting boards, stacks of files and papers...
3. Business transactions can be discussed in a more relaxing manner...
And to top it up, my new colleagues are one Indian guy who's quite friendly and easy-going (also a Liverpool fan~), and 4 demure ladies, 2 from NTU and another 2 who are poly graduates...Some of us may be spending one month with each other only for they took a temporary contract... have to treasure the short span of time together ba. Oh guys, stop thinking of the vinegar jar now...although i must say i am super lucky to be working with these people! They are so nice and helpful...and young and pretty~~
Regarding our job scope...well, we are suppose to help book golf+travel packages for people, ie apart from liaising with airlines, we also need to know which golf courses in which countries are worth going and such golfing knowledge should take up 70% of our required knowledge... Our boss has also been very kind to us, helping us to get to know golf terms, and probably he will bring us down to the golf course too...Hmm..perhaps I should take up golf in the near future too...Apart from football,F1, and tennis news, golf is one of those sports I have much interest in. Guess it's all influenced by my army superiors...
Overall first week rating for the job is 9/10...nice boss, nice colleagues, challenging work, nice office (new office mah) and most importantly, a ton of things to learn! In addition, the office is shifting to town makes the pie sweeter! I have always wanted to try working in the CBD, although I have told many people in the future I would never want to squeeze in the MRT, early in the morning. I guess it will be a nice to do that for a year or so...it's a new learning experience too, but yeah, I will still prefer that I needn't squeeze in the MRT with people early in the morning, wearing shirts, pants and ties...
Moving on to the Champions League...maybe I shouldn't report on what all the newspapers and internet website had reported...let's just say I actually wrote off Pool chances until Gerrard headed in the first goal! Since that goal, I was very sure Pool will win the match. Of course as usual I put my money down on Liverpool, $45 to be exact. Using my betting strategy which worked so well for the month, the answers from the strategy were actually inconclusive and like I told Charles, it was a 'follow your heart' bet rather than a 'follow your mind' bet. I put $20 on Liverpool to win at 90mins, $5 on 5 goals, and the same amount on Liverpool to win 4-1. Of course I lost all $45, but I was very very much delighted with the match and the result. It was so incredible! I told my brother and Zhibin that Liverpool survived through the Champions League with 'miracles' (they got to the KO stages with a 30yard Gerrard volley, resulting in a better head-to-head record despite ending with the same points with Olympiakos, they beat Bayer Leverkusen without Gerrard, they beat Juventus with a Garcia volley that could be credited with 'goal of the season', they beat Chelsea with a 'how-can-it-be-a-goal' goal from Garcia and again they beat Milan by sheer miracle~ 3 goals in 6 mins!
Soccer is indeed a pulsating, unpredictable game that is like an art to me. It has no fixed form, and you are free to create the gameflow the way you want it...cool right?
Some other stuff to talk about... like nowadays it's so bloody difficult to meet up with my buddies. My 7 Sea brothers! When will we gather again?? And the other chaps...oh man, so difficult to organise outings...aiyo. Looks like it's fated I have to endure my homely life for the time being~ but next Tue I'm going to M.I.C's handover cum election at $10ktv club so I guess that helps a bit...hee. But it also means I have to do many things because I agreed to help them...Yet because of my SCS team being stuck in limbo, I can't do any sourcing for sponsorship...haiz.
Then probably I should also talk about my weight problems. Okie, last weigh yesterday was still 60.xkg.. haiz! Looks like I need to do some drastic stuff to make it go down... currently I do plenty of running, but it seems inadequate...arghz.. I know I can do it, because in sec 3 I did go down to 57 by playing football nearly everyday with my classmates (but nobody plays football everyday nowadays..) Okie, so I guess I have to watch very closely what I eat (and I really did that since long ago, ask my colleague today who told me not to read the calorie numbers on the McDonald's tray liner... I think I will also climb the stairs everyday at my new office, it's on the 10th floor... hee. Then if really desperate I guess I may have to take pills to help speed things up...I really want to become a new person on my 22nd birthday, and ya, speaking of that, I intend to ship out of Singapore that weekend...anyone onz. I will definitely go for a beach destination nearby (no, not Sentosa beach, thanks)...
Ya, will also appreciate if someone could be my nutritionist and trainer who can help me plan some sort of weight losing training... but any little suggestion will also help a lot. My target is to be on par with my 7seas brothers...maybe not Alex, who is a super hunk, but at least, I can look totally anew when I return to school in the city campus. But i dun wan to go to the gym, please....unless u find me a non-airconditioned gym. You can ask me to play tennis, soccer, basketball, swimming, running, cycling (but I need to borrow one first cos mine got stolen), badminton and whatever high-tempo sports...
Oh well...one last thing to talk about.. (sorry, i know i'm very long-winded today). I want to say thanks to my friends who spend their time to talk to me, to read this blog, to play mahjong with me, to work with me, etc. Although I do lament about the lack of opportunities to meet up, I still appreciate those moments you spent on me.
Cuddly Wishes
Jeffire
